The Mandur landfill project was documented in 2013 and presented to Bengaluru Bhruhat Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) officials, and sadly, nothing much has changed since then. The BBMP continues to find newer places to illegally dump the 5000 metric tonnes of waste generated by Bangalore.

The residents of Mandur have been quietly suffering the bullying of Bangalore for years. The leachate has affected the villages with a variety of infectious and chronic illnesses, and many have perished as a result. This repugnant behaviour of dumping garbage has badly impacted thousands of livelihoods by destroying village commons, agricultural land, grazing pastures, and water sources, including groundwater. And it is now making its way back into Bangalore via the food chain. We don't fully grasp this aspect of it.

As of 2023, there are seven landfills in Bangalore.
